The black-tie evening was a unique opportunity for the Sydney community to come and have dinner with Nelson Mandela and experience first-hand this inspirational figure of world freedom.
“I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die.”
Funds raised on the night benefited two charities, The New Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Tikkun, a Jewish initiative to help children and communities in South Africa.
